Mission Statement

Purpose Plan for: ELIJAH’S PROMISE TO HOUSING inc.

ELIJAH PROMISE TO HOUSING INC (Organization) is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment and opportunities for Veterans and Aged Out Wards of the State, that have been convicted of a sex offense. Providing housing to the otherwise unhoused population, while promoting justice, healing and restoration for all involved. The organization will provide low-income and housing assistance for eligible individuals, resources, wrap- around services that promote successful reintegration into the community and contribute to the residents emotional and physical well-being.

The exact allocation of resources between housing and wrap-services is dependent upon the types and amounts of grant dollars the organization receives, but the primary focus is to provide permanent housing for Homeless Veteran and Aged Out Youth of the State convicted of a sex offense. Additional grant dollars will be used to provide services and resources to address the individual’s medical dis-ease, thereby reducing recidivism, with the aim of keeping both the individuals and the community safe. Economically, is cost more to imprison an inmate then it does than it does to house an inmate.

DOC won’t release the number of sex offenders/Aged Out Youth of the State that have should have paroled out or should have been released that are still being held because they have no place to go. ELIJAH’S PROIMISE TO HOUSING INC. wants to take that financial burden off our system and give something back that we all are entitled to a HOME.

The organization plan is to obtain a multi-unit building to convert to one-bedroom apartments that can house approximately 10 individuals to start. The organization expects that the initial grant money will be used to obtain and possibly renovate the property to make it suitable for housing (a home) carrying the organization’s primary purpose. After the property is obtained and ready to move-in participants, the organization will then begin hiring qualified staff to provide the wrap-around services necessary.

The wrap-around services will consist of therapy, specific to the sexual addiction and educational sessions that will usually occur on the premises of the housing facility can cover various subject matters including, but not limited to mental health services, cognitive behavioral therapy, SUD, Peer Recovery Coaching, Budgeting, Money Management and other related skills to those that can. The sessions will be conducted by trained, certified and licensed professionals and will likely be one to two hours in duration on average.
